The Foundation Degree in Sports Coaching and Development in partnership with University South Wales
Are you passionate about a career in the sports industry? If so, come and study with Leyton Orient in 2023/4
Leyton Orient Trust’s two-year Foundation Degree programme is a course designed for individuals wanting to attain a university qualification and are passionate about pursuing a career in the sports industry.
Students develop the necessary skills, qualities and characteristics that are required to work within sport development roles at a local, regional or national level; as well as grassroots or elite coaching roles.
Delivered in partnership with the University of South Wales, all lectures, seminars and tutorials are delivered in a supportive and inspirational club environment via online material. A combination of pre-recorded and live online sessions are produced by University of South Wales Lecturers and facilitated at Leyton Orient Trust by our Club Mentor’s.
Alongside the academic element of the course, students will complete up to 400 hours of voluntary coaching within the community, alongside Leyton Orient Trust staff, allowing the students to apply and develop the coaching techniques learnt within lectures. The types of coaching opportunities available to students on the course are in schools, estate-based, football college programme, academy, fitness and mental health sessions.
Through Leyton Orient Trust’s partnership with the University of South Wales, all students will be enrolled as a student at the university. Students will have access to the university’s online library and virtual learning environment, which houses all the course content, providing them with the best possible learning platform to excel within.
There is also an opportunity to undertake a 1-year ‘top-up’ degree after completing this to gain a full degree (BSc).
